Packing and Moving Tips

Action 9-A is committed to making the process of storing your belongings as easy as possible. To do that, we have created the following packing guidelines for you to reference. We recommend you review this list prior to packing your Pack “N” Load Containers.

Preparing Your Belongings for Storage:

• Use the proper size boxes. Place heavier items in smaller boxes to make them easier to lift, and bulky, lightweight items in larger boxes.
• Pack books flat into small boxes for easy lifting. Fill any empty spaces to minimize shifting.
• Fill each box completely to prevent the contents from shifting.
• List the contents on the sides of each box.
• Completely seal each box with packing tape to protect the contents from dust and dirt.
• Wardrobe boxes are best for storing clothes. Use the bar to hang clothing and store shoes and other items in the bottom of the box.
• Pack mirrors and pictures in mirror boxes and store them upright.
• For breakable items, use a dish-pack or glassware box for greater protection. Wrap each item separately and tip plates, saucers and bowls on their sides.
• Protect your items with cloths and paper pads.
• Drain all water, clean and tape down all moving parts on appliances before storing. Keep refrigerator and freezer doors slightly ajar to prevent mildew. Don't forget to use the space inside appliances to store smaller items.
• Disassemble furniture, if possible, and cover with cloth or paper pads for protection. Disassemble beds and mark all pieces so you can easily put them back together.

Packing Your Pack “N” Load Container:

• Distribute the weight evenly throughout the Pack “N” Load Container.
• Place heavy items on the bottom and stack lighter items on top.
• Pack the Container as tightly as possible to prevent your items from shifting.
• Use ropes and straps to secure your goods.
• If you'll need access to certain items, place them in the front part of the Container.
• Make an inventory of items placed in the Container.
• DO NOT LOAD MORE THAN 2,000 POUNDS IN A Pack “N” Load CONTAINER.

Securing Your Pack “N” Load Container:

• After you have packed your Pack “N” Load Container, use a high security lock to secure it.
• When completely finished loading your Container, lock and seal it with the provided seal.

Prohibited Goods:

Do NOT pack any of the following in the Pack “N” Load Container:
Agricultural goods, valuable documents, accounts, bills, currency, deeds, evidence of debt, money, notes, securities, stamps, antiques, paintings, statues, fine art, jewelry, jewels, gems, watches, precious or semi-precious metals or stones, furs, garments trimmed with fur or similar valuables, live plants or animals, artwork, other goods of high value, fragile goods, sentimental or other articles whose values are difficult to ascertain or that by their natures cannot be readily replaced with a new article, controlled drugs, perishables, living or dead organisms, liquids, anything that can be damaged by freezing or hot temperatures or extremely high or low humidity, hazardous, toxic, radioactive, explosive incendiary or highly flammable or combustible materials or items, aerosol cans, alcoholic beverages, synthetic clothing, combustible metal products, plastic upholstered furniture, wood or furniture with plastic covering and/or padding, glycol, linoleum products, oil based paints, pharmaceuticals, foam back pads, asphalt shingles, synthetic thread or yard, flammable solids, lacquers, lubricating or hydraulic fluid, foamed rubber or foamed plastic mattresses or pillows, rolled paper, rubber tires, vegetable oil and butter in plastic containers or any other liquids, flammable of hazardous substance or other materials who storage or use is prohibited by federal, state or local law, regulation or ordinance.
